Knorr-Bremse stops transfer of production at Hasse & Wrede




In line with a decision by the Executive Board of Knorr-Bremse and the Management Board of Hasse & Wrede, the transfer of production of torsional vibration dampers for commercial vehicles and stationary engines to Liberec in the Czech Republic will not go ahead. Consequently, Hasse & Wrede’s Berlin-Marzahn plant with its rich industrial heritage will be retained. An initiative by the Hasse & Wrede Works Council via-à-vis the Executive Board of the family firm which is not governed by collective bargaining made it possible to provide this job security.

South Western Railways award Kiepe Electric a contract for traction upgrade and refurbishment




Kiepe Electric UK Ltd has been awarded a contract by First MTR South Western Trains Limited to carry out traction upgrade and refurbishment works on 18 Class 442 trains to be operated on the South Western Railway franchise.

24-meter IMC® double-articulated bus at Busworld fair in Kortrijk




From October 20-25 2017, representatives of the international bus industry will meet up at the Busworld fair in Kortrijk, Belgium. The first 24-meter EXQUI.CITY to be configured as an IMC® electric bus will be on show on the booth of Belgian manufacturer Van Hool (booth 601 in hall 2).

Tramino for Braunschweig equipped with Kiepe Electric systems




Düsseldorf-based Kiepe Electric GmbH, a Knorr-Bremse Group company, is to supply the electrical equipment for seven low-floor light rail vehicles for the city of Braunschweig in Germany, with an option for an additional seven units. The new light rail vehicles will form the latest addition to the fleet of local mass transit operator Braunschweiger Verkehrs-GmbH.

Double-articulated electric buses with IMC® technology for Austria




Operators LINZ AG LINIEN recently presented their first 24-meter electric bus. The bus is one of 20 double-articulated e-buses with In Motion Charging (IMC®) technology to be supplied by Kiepe Electric. The buses are to replace the existing trolley bus fleet in Linz and bring an almost 30% increase in capacity to 180 passengers per vehicle. Replacement of the entire fleet is due to be completed by the end of 2019.

Knorr-Bremse partners with the “Quality is Added Value” initiative




Knorr-Bremse has signed up to the commercial vehicle initiative “Quality is Added Value”. “Quality is Added Value” is a German initiative (“Qualität ist Mehrwert”) that brings together prominent manufacturers of automotive components for the aftermarket. The aim is to boost awareness of the importance of quality during vehicle repairs, and to this end, the initiative highlights the benefits of high quality parts for the parts trade, repair workshops and drivers.

Knorr-Bremse: Subsidiaries Kiepe Electric and IFE to refurbish Vienna Stadtbahn mass transit cars




Operators Wiener Linien GmbH & Co KG have commissioned Kiepe Electric and IFE to refurbish 78 Stadtbahn cars for mass transit in Vienna. The measures will bring the cars into line with current technology and ensure that they continue to provide safe, reliable, customer-oriented service for many years to come.

China’s commercial vehicle market discovers automated manual transmissions




Most Chinese commercial vehicles still have manual transmission, but demand for automated manual transmissions is rising and the potential is huge.
